With an editorial board of scholars whose interests cover the study of the early middle ages in its entirety and a dazzling array of international corresponding editors Early Medieval Europe stands at the very heart of debate in early medieval studies. Filling an important gap it is indispensable reading for all students and scholars of the early medieval world. Early Medieval Europe is unique in its chronological methodological and geographical scope. People use the phrase Middle Ages to describe Europe between the fall of Rome in 476 CE and the beginning of the Renaissance in the 14th century. It covers Europe in its entirety including material on Iceland Ireland the British Isles Scandinavia and Continental Europe (both west and east). The journal is a thoroughly interdisciplinary forum encouraging the discussion of archaeology numismatics palaeography diplomatic literature onomastics art history linguistics and epigraphy as well as more traditional historical approaches. John Contreni Purdue University Early Medieval Europe provides an indispensable source of information and debate on the history of Europe from the later Roman Empire to the eleventh century. They provided them not only with the most recent research findings but also taught them how to frame an argument present evidence and so on. Christianity flourished in the early middle ages and this shift dramatically affected the art that was created across Europe. Early modern Europe, also referred to as the post-medieval period, is the period of European history between the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, roughly the late 15th century to the late 18th century. I built an upper level course around all the essays that had appeared thus far in EME and it was a great success with students especially the review essays.
